How Mining Works in PLX Network

Every PLX miner sees a single number on their dashboard — their session rate, in PLX/hr. But that number isn't arbitrary. It's the output of a formula built from five separate factors, each one stacking on top of the last. This post breaks down exactly how a mining session works and how your rate is actually calculated, piece by piece.

Starting a session: Proof-of-Participation

Mining in PLX Network runs on Proof-of-Participation (POP) — a 24-hour session you start by tapping "Start Mining" on your dashboard. To start a session, your account needs an active mining slot; once that session is running, you earn PLX continuously until it completes, at which point you can start the next one right away.

How much you earn across that session depends entirely on your session rate — not a fixed number, but a live calculation done server-side from several stacking factors.

The five factors behind your session rate

1. Base mining rate

Your base rate is allocated the moment you create your account, and it's permanently fixed from that point forward. It never decreases for your account, regardless of what happens to the platform's entry rate for new users afterward.

2. Permanent referral bonus (P_ref)

Every time someone applies your referral code, you receive a small one-time, permanent bonus rate. This isn't shown as its own separate line — it's folded directly into the "Base + Referral" number on your dashboard, so that figure quietly grows every time your code gets used, even by someone who later goes inactive.

3. Active referral bonus

Separately from the one-time bonus above, every currently active referral in your network adds a flat +0.03 PLX/hr to your rate. There's no cap — 5 active referrals add +0.15 PLX/hr, 20 active referrals add +0.60 PLX/hr, and so on. Unlike the permanent bonus, this component depends on your referrals staying active; if one goes inactive, their +0.03/hr contribution pauses until they mine again.

4. Team boost

Team boost is a multiplier applied to your current session rate, based on how many of your team members are actively mining at the same time:

This multiplies everything calculated before it — base rate, permanent referral bonus, and active referral bonus combined — not just the base number alone.

5. 2x Boost (coming in a future update)

A planned boost feature will let you double your session rate for the next 1 hour. Since it applies after team boost in the stack, it doubles your already-boosted rate rather than just your base number — we'll update this post with full details once it ships.

Session penalty

One more factor sits at the very end of the calculation: session penalty, which reduces your effective rate if you've been inactive for too long. This is a separate system with its own grace period and recovery mechanics.

The complete formula

Putting all five factors together, here's the full session rate calculation, in order:

Session Rate = (((Base Rate + P_ref) + Active Referral Bonus) × Team Boost) × Boost Multiplier × (1 − Session Penalty%)

Worked example

Say you have a base rate of 7.36 PLX/hr, a permanent referral bonus of +0.05 PLX/hr from past referral signups, and 5 currently active referrals contributing +0.15 PLX/hr:

Add a future 2x boost on top of this and the same session would run at 22.68 PLX/hr for its duration. Let a session lapse past the grace period, and the penalty multiplier at the end pulls the number back down instead.

Why the stacking order matters

Because team boost and any future boost multiplier apply to the combined total — not just your raw base rate — growing your referral network and staying active on a team compounds meaningfully more than either factor would alone. A high base rate with an active team behind it earns disproportionately more than the same base rate mining solo.
