Mining Decay & Recovery, Explained

Here's something most PLX miners never think about — stop mining for too long, and your session efficiency starts quietly dropping. Not your base rate; that's locked forever. But how much you earn per session can shrink down to as little as 20% of what it should be, and most people don't notice until it's already happened.

What decay actually affects

Mining decay is a session efficiency penalty that kicks in after extended inactivity. The key distinction almost everyone misses: decay never touches your base rate. That number is permanently locked in from the moment you join and never changes.

What decay DOES affect

— Session rate (what you earn per session)

— Builds up gradually with inactivity

— Fully recoverable through mining

What decay does NOT affect

— Base rate (locked at join, forever)

— Coin balance already mined

— Your referral network

The 5-day grace period

PLX builds in a buffer for every miner. Miss a day, two days, even five consecutive days — you pay zero penalty. Your next session runs at full efficiency, exactly as if you never stopped. This exists specifically to protect casual miners from accidental gaps, not to punish a busy week.

The decay clock only starts ticking on day six of inactivity.

The penalty formula

Once you're past the grace period, the math is simple: for every day beyond day five, you lose 2% efficiency.

Session Rate = Base Rate × (1 − penalty%)
Example: 7.36 PLX/hr × (1 − 0.10) = 6.62 PLX/hr at a 10% penalty

The penalty never exceeds 80% — you always earn at least 20% of your base rate, no matter how long you've been inactive.

Recovery is simpler than the penalty

Every mining session you complete reduces your penalty by exactly 3%. That's it — recovery starts with your very first session back.

The system is designed to reward you for coming back, not punish you for having left.

What happens at 90 days: archived accounts

If you hit 90 consecutive inactive days, PLX automatically archives your account and mining stops. Nothing is deleted, though:

To come back, tap Reactivate Account on your Dashboard. You resume immediately, with your penalty sitting at the 80% cap — recovering through normal sessions just like anyone else.

The one thing to remember

Your base mining rate is never permanently reduced by the decay system — ever. Only your session rate is affected, and only temporarily. Miss five days, no problem. Miss more? Start one session and recovery begins immediately.
